Lundgren's story right down to the betrayal of the eldest, Big John, and the hanging of his three brothers by a vigilante mob reflected their real-life story. The novel talks about four brothers while, I think, they were five in all, one of whom (William, if I'm not mistaken) stayed behind to look after their parents.
