There's a lot more to say about this book that's interesting, but I thought 950 words was probably enough for today.

Walker, thanks so much for the encouragement. White always impressed me as one of the more "literary" western authors. Maybe not as much as Rhodes but they both appeared quite frequently in the SATURDAY EVENING POST.

Just think about how times have changed. There once was a tremendous market for fiction in the pulps and slicks. Now there is absolutely no magazine market for western fiction at all. There are a few digest magazines that publish SF and mystery fiction but that's it.

And I'm sorry, but I don't see the e-book revolution as the solution. These magazines used to have some excellent editors working with writers. Now there is alot of self publishing and no editorial influence.

These writers you are writing about Ron, they published BOOKS. I have trouble considering e-books as really books. The editions of ARIZONA NIGHTS, now that's a book you can hold in your hand, put on your library shelf, sell to other collectors, etc. This series of articles deserve permanence as a book. I hope someday to hold such a collection of your essays in my hand.Walker Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16089880902426182100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-27803619463072854402010-09-22T14:39:10.471-07:002010-09-22T14:39:10.471-07:00This one sounds like I need to find a copy.
