I enjoy reading "densely plotted" westerns and more the drama, descriptions, and complications the better for me. This one seems like a fairly regular western story told in Brand's characteristic style.Prashant C. It appeared in ALL STORY and the first installment was in the December 7, 1918 issue. The hardcover reprint uses the same Modest Stein cover as the pulp.

However I did complain about the outlaws having a code of honor and believing in fair play. I think it was that heavily mythical element—it felt almost like a fantasy at some points. When I first discovered his books I devoured a ton of them just for the sheer spell of his writing, but the ones that stuck as favorites were the ones that had more of an element of realism to them.Elisabeth Grace Foleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02073159989691222645noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-80736154024974044472013-03-14T07:15:24.691-07:002013-03-14T07:15:24.691-07:00When I was a youngster I read a ton of Max Brand b...When I was a youngster I read a ton of Max Brand books, including Untamed.
