And while it was made for television, it was released as a feature film in Europe. I still think it is one of the best westerns ever made. He also played News Carver in Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, which I think deserves mention. Your blog is very interesting.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-14904753649231669372010-07-03T14:44:19.432-07:002010-07-03T14:44:19.432-07:00Lonely Are the Brave is a great movie--based on a ...Lonely Are the Brave is a great movie--based on a great book by Edward Abbey, "The Brave Cowboy"sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17499891950639742366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-33526649503732476272010-06-19T17:28:19.109-07:002010-06-19T17:28:19.109-07:00I'm coming to this late so I may have missed s...I'm coming to this late so I may have missed something earlier, but my list would have Rio Bravo, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Shane, The Wild Bunch, The Searchers, and They Died With Their Boots On (horrible history, great action).Cap'n Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11783977137812876489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-77939979976950056092010-06-13T06:52:30.994-07:002010-06-13T06:52:30.994-07:00It's interesting that no one has mentioned Hon...It's interesting that no one has mentioned Hondo.ChuckTyrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02609200010767178944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-21420826961759922042010-06-11T20:51:06.807-07:002010-06-11T20:51:06.807-07:00No.No.Evan Lewishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07620731784654779358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-5811227957256931792010-06-11T14:44:57.785-07:002010-06-11T14:44:57.785-07:00Most of the films you all are mentioning are alrea...Most of the films you all are mentioning are already on the IGN top-25 list I was adding to. I haven't seen the Lee Marvin Monte Walsh and intend to. I would have included the Tom Selleck version except that it was made for TV, which like Lonesome Dove disqualified it from the IGN list. Blazing Saddles? You're joking, right?Ron Scheerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15357501069513854664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-2726769521238499712010-06-11T02:21:44.553-07:002010-06-11T02:21:44.553-07:00I love lists because they give me ideas for viewin...I love lists because they give me ideas for viewing. It's that feeling that ends up with laws such as the one recently passed in Arizona against illegal immigrants.

Adding to the list:

Last Stand at Sabre River.

Outlaw Josie Wales

Warlock

Cowboy

The Shootist (better Wayne flick than True Grit)

The Unforgiven

One I haven't seen for a long time but remember a lot is Lawman, which starred Burt Lancaster. I'll have to get a DVD of that.

There are others, but these came to mind right off the bat.ChuckTyrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02609200010767178944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-13205917944493924682010-06-10T18:36:17.487-07:002010-06-10T18:36:17.487-07:00The Searchers should be in there, though. The Searchers should be in there, though.Gary Dobbs/Jack Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10935686140719743351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3434602314756730550.post-63666236363662161842010-06-10T16:21:30.243-07:002010-06-10T16:21:30.243-07:00Apart from BBM! Open Range, for me is a real good film.
But for me, the really best film I ever saw, was Monte Walsh.
The Lee Marvin version. Full of nostalgia, by the cowboys, for the loss of the range and the cattle drives etc.
The Tom Selleck version, ok? but Lee has it for me.cheyenne joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16957462106844413179noreply@blogger.com
