That horse thief hanging reminds me of the setting in Once upon a time in the west where the man is hung with his brother trying to hold him up.

ReplyDeleteI'll have to watch the next time I drive over Bozeman Pass to see If I can tell where that photo was taken.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the hanging of the horse thief is chilling. The whole thing seems like a routine affair for those on the scene. Since this picture was taken in 1900 it mustn't have been long before Oregon and other states outlawed hanging for a lesser crime like stealing a horse, or rustling.
