Clara Ann Fowler was born of a cotton-picking Oklahoma family in 1927. So poor, she later said, that they lived without electricity. "Tennessee Waltz," written by Redd Stewart and Pee Wee King, was one of 15 million-selling singles recorded by her during 1950-1965.

  1. I remember seeing her in a nightclub in San Francisco in the '50's. A nice, sweet voice and a good-looking gal. Sorry to see that she passed away.
