Anybody get seasonal affective disorder? Mine sets in about now and will last until May. Energy levels going through the floor. Easily overtaken by a feeling of gloom and doom.
Meanwhile, relationships founder. The immune system goes down. Life is elsewhere.
I have devices for dealing with it. Coffee, always a mood lifter, is a welcome companion. Old routines give the day a sense of purpose and order. Escape can be found in books.
If I get a little “distant” here, don’t worry. I’ll be back. Eventually.
The photo is from one side of a tall column on the campus where I work. Looks like it has stood there forever. Passing by, one takes heart.
Know the feeling, feel like the day should be over as fast as possible, so I can sleep again! I always feel as though I should hibernate!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I don't have this problem. I know plenty people who do, though.
ReplyDeleteLike the photo... I thought it "never rains in California" :) Here, where we have days and days of clouds, lots of people are affected by the season--I try to fighting it by getting out in the cold. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteMy treatment of choice is naps. long naps.
ReplyDeleteTake heart, Courage is still standing!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the comforts that may ease your melancholia. I think I know how that is. Courage is truly the anodyne, and I am glad that monument stands where it does. Someone long gone carved the message for you and others. You have given great gifts to the world.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was just me here with the snow. I am counting the days until warm and green--right now everything is cold and white. But books and writing do pass the time. By the way, great photo.
ReplyDeleteI like all seasons, but the wind has been trying around here lately. Winter depression has been linked to a vitamin D deficiency.
ReplyDeleteThanks everybody for the kind words and the en(courage)ment.
ReplyDeleteWe have our private remedies. I watch Casablanca, a film that lifts me up and floods me with a sense that life is worth the struggle.
ReplyDeleteEveryday.. I try and spend some time sitting in the sun enjoying some quiet time with a tall glass of tea. I also enjoy looking at fresh flowers sitting on the dinning room table. That always puts a smile on my face..:)
